By all means.... Just DID IT

So here I am after a short 30 min swim at my residence [feels good to say that]. And the time is 11.30 pm. I start this chapter to share something abt my last trip, which is worth remembering for my life time. One Wednesday, we suddenly, asusual realized the fact that we are not yet to any place other than Singapore, in South East Asia. So just in 15 min, we booked our flight ticket and started planning for the trip. Hurriedly, took all the possible print outs, all at once realizing time is precious. Its nothing more than Phuket, Thailand. Yea nothing more. Here it goes..

STOP !!! I was saying we / our /etc . Let me introduce the grp. Just 3 . . Gaurav Paruthi, Sharvil Pradeep Patil and myself.

Day 1: FRIDAY, 31st evening 3.30 pm

Being optimistic that we dont miss our flight we ran to Raffles Place for a good deal to exchange SGD for Baht. Started with 250 SGD each. We were just on time at the terminal. When standing at the queue, checking all the details like a perfect orthodox, I let 3 groups cross me. Worst thing is I was just looking at the passports. Forget it more important issues yet to come...

Sharvil had a smiley face, expecting he had enough money for the trip. Everything went well and we landed at Phuket. We directly ran to the Passport Checking counter, waited for 30 min in the queue to know that we have to take VISA-On Arrival first. With no issues, got the VISA for 1 k Baht. Went to a tourism counter to book a Phi-Phi Island trip which takes away the next day till evening. Took a mini bus, to get driven all the way to JENNY guesthouse. After we got down, we very soon realize that we have to be at jinny guesthouse [Assole .. the bus driver, hu said that was the correct address]. Took another cab and went to JInny finally... after a lot of mime, to convey the address to the locals. Jinny is on 'piss''it'koranee road, ofcourse stopped myself from miming it.

After a 30 min rest on the cozy beds, dreaming of the good time ahead (talking abt sleeping), we strolled down to a nicely decorated Restaurant and seems to be the best in Phuket - TIGER INN. There is a live band ... music is gud spanish / mexican one [ both are same according to Guarav ]. Enjoyed the photo and the ambience of the restaurant. Walked out paying 1000 Baht wihch we generally pay for our dinner at Singapore on weekends [too costly to be precise].

To our surprise, there were road side bars, which are of no interest to us. We dragged ourselves to the guesthouse and I had a great night sleeping with no dream. I take it as the best night, when I dont have a dream.

Day 2: Started at 7.00 am . We got ready for the rest of the day at phuket by 8 am. We were taken to the speed boat terminal in a mini bus [again], given some biscuits, tea,/coffee as breakfast. It is said that on sea, in a speedboat, front end occupiers will have to experience THai Boxing and rear end passengers will have a nice Thai Massage. We preferred boxing and ya had a whirpool under my abs. It was a temporary dismay. First reached PHI PHI LEH Island, which is one of the most beautiful islands I have ever seen [forget abt my count]. Started Snorkelling at the beach there to see nothing more than White Sand underneath. Moved on to Monkey Island, where monkeys were too many and they were jumping onto the boat for the fruits we offered. There comes the real Snorkelling. We were given 30 min to snorkel in the crystal clear sea water of arnd 10 ft depth. Minding my expertise in swimming, took a life jacket and the snorkelling equipment. For the first time I have seen the real 'DISCOVERY' type sea bed. It was mind blowing. I was in a trance for a while observing the fish, the vegetation and other porcupine type animals just under me. My ecstatic feeling can be just expressed fractionally, to the best.
The next part is PHI PHI DON Island, where we had a good heavy lunch. Im a poor veg guy, so just some vegetables and Spaghetti with noodles and rice for me. Satisfied with the lunch, we went to another island, Yuan Island, where Sharvil spent all the time playing with fish at the beach with all his snorkeling equipment and life jacket on [its hardly 1 ft depth......chotu]. Had some fruits and started back to Phuket on a rough sea.

Reaching home, we made ourselves ready by resting for 1 hr, for the shopping and the night life ahead. Gaurav is just not thinking anything other than Thai Massage. He had it in a 'gud way' the next day. We shopped for a while. Nepalis are worth mentioning for the reasons known. They are much better than local. Most of the shopkeepers are Nepalis. Lucky guyz they are... dont need to have a VISA.

Day 3: Sunday, starts at 11 pm, as we are just left with Water sports and some interesting stuff

Trying to save money, as we were broke the prev. day and withdrew another 400 SGD, we went to SUBWAY and McD, leaving Indian restaurants. Jet skieing, para sailing and Banana boating are eye catchy. I just did the first one, a little. And the rest were enjoyed by Sharvil and Gaurav. I took the role of the audience, rather, let me put myself as a photgrapher.

Yo... we took 2 motor bikes [we are on road now]. We started our 1 hr travel to the a tip of the island, Phronthemp cape to see the sun dipping over the edges of the ocean [see pictures]. Gaurav had a tough time starting the bike, ensured that it is his learning stage. Sharvil a little better than him , took that as a chance and could start the bike successfully after a while and drove a little better than Gaurav. We lanced down the road, over the hills, through the greenary, crossing Thai elephants, racing some young girls, pausing for poses. I will be happier, if I can have a tenacious memory of all these.

Day 4: "MOnday Morning" The figurative sense of that phrase can be defined from our faces then. Had a dull, cold drive to the airport in the cab, we booked. Now we are 1 hr in advance for the flight. After a long wait, took the flight and finally planned to enjoy writing this, this way.

It so happened;

**Sharvil got his name -- " Chotu "

**Fun Q by Sharvil: He intended to ask "What do u call the female Monkey?"
[ Are.. Bandhar ka BIBI ko kya bolega ? ]

**I was the " Chicken " at the water sports with all my dismay about it.

**GP proved his driving skills

Spent nearly 600 SGD per head expected arnd 400 SGD { Is Sharvil still smiling !? :)}. Just kidding, we all realize the next line to its best.

Its all WORTH SPENDING, WORTH LIVING THAT JOY and WORTH ShARING WITH U ALL, so had all means of travel - Airways, Roadways and Waterways in one trip of 2 days. Thats quiet interesting abt ourselves :)

Indonesia & Malaysia ..

So, the next tidings follow;

Starting from the last weekend,
we, with the infineon PS guys planned to go on a trip to Kusu island. It is very close to Singapore, but please let me feel that it is Indonesia as I got the Indonesian mobile signal, instead of SingTel (Singapore's Airtel) :P. We took a ferry to St. Johns island which is in the way to Kusu. Ferry was good with all the smoke of the engine right on us, if we stand outside the AC room provided, which allowed me to recollect my PS1 days at Vybra Automet. (We had a hard time at PS1 working in the smoke of that forging company). Sometimes better to forget things.. so let me come out of this..... we are at St. John's Island which is THE place where there is nothing.. :) just an island and a sand beach. So we wer der for half n hr and then took the same ferry to Kusu. 'Kusu' is 'Turtle' in Chinese and 'Fart' in Tamil, dont ask me hu named it. These ppl here come up with interesting stories for each island. Hearing to such stories, I felt that they are just a waste of time.

So finally its an island of turtles. Many turtles around 50-60, all in a small lagoon (closed one). Sorry to all those who love turtles that I couldn't stay der for more than 2 minutes. It was reeking badly.. ....yyaacckkkk...I am sure no 1 calls it is an AROMA of KUSU(fart / turtle / fart / turtle / fart/ turtle / fart / turtle).... to contradict me, these ppl love it :(
Later we went to a Chinese temple at the highest peek of the island ... (50 M abv sea level). Similar to any Hindu temple, we need to wish something, they tie some bands ... and u r the BLESSED for ur Lucky Life !!..... I dint participate in that ritual, but my friends did. And we are back at Marina Bay of Singapore by 6 pm. Thats a trip to Indonesia........ yeyeyeyye :P

and then to malaysia...... with all the Insead - BITS seniors..... we went to Pulau Bin island. Cycled through forests of that island, it was AWESOME.... Had a customized Chinese veg food at the shore... that was great.... and then later back to Changi Village of Singapore. This time we went on a Motor Boat. worth going....Sorry to say that even here as I got the malaysian signal I marked it as Malay..... :)

Schei Schi Ni .....means Thank you in Chinese

Dont worry...soon I will be on a tour to Malaysia...!!

I asked for a good Veg Pizza .. here comes the problem... these chinese ppl dont understand what Veg is actually... she thought that I requested for Veg toppings and

THE TIME @ SINGAPORE

Hi...

THis is what I am doing as an Intern here @ INsead Business School from BITS, Pilani as a part of my graduation...

On the first day, when I am @ Singapore... I realized that the development at Singapore is phenomenal. THE AIRPORT.. CHANGI is the best one I have ever seen with its greenery letting u to feel like u r still with the nature... midst of such developments. And here @ Singapore, this issue applies to every corner, every street, every building. U dont miss greenery at all...

How singapore is different from India;

**Traffic system and public administration here at Singapore ROX..
**Believe taxi drivers.. no problem... they take u on the shortest path safely, unlike in Italy.
**Singapore is a city of fines.. as said by many of my seniors... even for a bicycle riding at wrong places, u will be charged 500S$ ( nearly 15000 Rs). Rules are strict.
**And the people here follow all those rules with dignity and patience. Basic thinking of the ppl is very veyr different from Indians... Yes I know I am Indian... so i write this.. We Indians should change our thinking first.. so starting the development in India...Ok... no more philosophy preaching..

Here comes abt myself, my work and my stay...

After a loooong search for a room for 2 guys...gaurav and myself... ( Gaurav is from BITS, Goa ).. I could get a nice room at Telok Blangah Crescent, freindly flatmates(Indonesian, chinese,etc) for a very reasonable price at nearly City centre...Basically not just a room... I have all exxtra facilities & luxuries like AC, TV, fridge, stove, electric cooker, etc. The only thing is I have to travel all the way to Insead in 2 buses costing me 30-40 min. Timings at my office are very flexible... we can go between 8 to 11 and leave between 5-7... just work for 7-8 hrs... at the max... a perfect timing for a professional life starter like me.. Insead treats interns really good. Gives u all the freedom... Oh i forgot to mention abt Pool table and Foosh ball that we generally play after lunch... And yes lunch at Insead is really really a 5 star level one... for a roadside rate.. :P... may not be good comparison. Very good set of seniors of our university ( 10 is the count ) are a nice company at my work place..

Cant eat outside, very hard to get veggy food here.... so now u know that i am a veggy atleast..
And ofcourse for dinner i am cooking.. I have to ask my mom to send some simple recepies so that I can try out burning my hands :P.... dont worry.. comeover for dinner to my house.

Places visited;

on the first day was int he middle of the tall skyscrapers at Raffles place...

on the first weekend, saw 2 movies here at theatres which are upto the standards of IMAX / PVR of India, but 5 times the cost...also covered the East Coast Park, cycling along the coast.

One the second weekend, was at Sentosa Beach which was excellent, thrilling... went on a skyride and Luge... which were very exciting... hey... will surely got there if u are here with me..

Days went on.. this is the 20th day at SIngapore... nice to live in this place.. enjoying all the new places I cover. Going out is like an adventure here.... .Hoping the next news will be soon updated.... BubYeee !
